'Woody Guthrie's New Years Rulins' illustrated book

Finally after what seems like a month of staring at the soulless hideous void that is InDesign my first ever book is printed and available to buy!  Well I say my book - it's mostly the brilliant words of Woody Guthrie accompanied by my illustrations - but you know I'm pretty excited about it.

'At the end of 1941 folk musician Woody Guthrie wrote thirty three inspiring rulins (resolutions) for the following year. They still stand-up as a an excellent set of ideals to try and live by. In an attempt to motivate myself in 2013 I decided to draw one of Woody's rulins every day during January.

This book compiles all of the rulins and illustrations. Rulins include;
'Work More and Better'
'Take Bath'
'Eat Good - Fruit, Vegetables, Milk'
'Drink Scant - if any'
'Wear Clean Clothes - Look Good'
'Learn People Better'
'Stay Glad'
'Dream Good'
'Save Dough'
'Dance Better'
'Love Everybody'
'Make Up Your Mind'

The book is seventy pages and measures 210mm x 148mm (A5). The cover is 300gsm full colour on the outside with a gloss laminate to protect it. The paper inside is 120gsm white matt printed all in black and white (high quality) throughout.'

'Giallo Uccello' linocut print

Giallo Uccello' is the second in a series of linocut prints I'm making throughout 2014. I intend to make one every fortnight and print very limited numbers of each. They will be inspired by my favourite things so broadly speaking; horror, folklore, cinema, comics, nature, the occult, cryptozoology, flora and fauna.

'Giallo Uccello' is broadly inspired by a memorable scene in Dario Argento's 'Profondo Rosso' movie.

'Madame Cthulhu' linocut print

'Madame Cthulhu' is the first in a series of linocut prints I'll be making this year.  I intend to make one every fortnight and print very limited numbers of each. They will be inspired by my favourite things so broadly speaking; horror, folklore, cinema, comics, nature, the occult, cryptozoology, flora and fauna. 

'Madame Cthulhu' is a [not-so-good] working title for the piece; I prefer the following lines that were spinning around my head when I was cutting the lino but they're a little too long for a title;

'People said she came from the sea.
I always felt the sea came from her.'

The more observant amongst you will notice we're more than two weeks into 2014;  I have a small back-log of prints to put onto my shop.  It's the most joyless part of the process hence the delay...
